A place to learn how to make bikes. You keep the skills, your first bike goes to someone who really needs it.

The Bicycle Academy is a new enterprise providing people with the skills and facilities to design and make their own bikes.

Frame building will be taught by the legendary Brian Curtis as evening classes or short weekday courses. As part of the learning process each student will make a frame designed specifically for use in Africa. Once graduated students will be able to use The Bicycle Academy workshop to hone their skills and build their own frames.

Please follow us for details of how to get involved, and support our crowd funding that starts on the 24th October…

Concepts based around the 28" 3 speed hubbed wheel, also mixing old with new. Using remakes of older style components i.e. Sturmey Archer, with NOS components. My influence has been very much around the old style French/ British bikes as you can see with the "Porteur" and "Roadster". I have built the bikes for my own use and interest. It is about the design and creation of something hopefully people will consider as beautiful. I have wanted to keep all contruction and finishing of the bikes centered around "Coventry". Taking it’s name from the Biblical Blacksmith of steel and brass Tubal Cain makes their rigid only frames and forks in the UK. They are forged together by the Somerset Legend that is Brian Curtis. R&D is done by Tim March and Steve Bancroft and these three are the independent points of this project. Weyland is Tim March’s accessory company that makes handlebars. Since we opened our doors in Spring 2009, we have built over 500 bikes for our very satisfied customers. All our frames are hand-built in the UK using British steel. At 14 Bike Co, we don’t simply put you on a bike – we build a bike for you. We start by measuring for the right size frame. Over almost a century and a half, Brooks England has grown from a small workshop to a byword in quality craftsmanship. Back in 1865, John Boultbee Brooks left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket. On 28 October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first saddle patent.

Inspired by the timeless products designed by our predecessors, we have revived the original slogan ‘Saddles, Bags, Etc’ and introduced a range of cycle bags and other cycling accessories.

Bike Science was established in March 2010 by Andy Sexton. Andy has over twenty five years of competitive biking experience and over twenty years as a triathlete. While working at Planet X he identified the need to be able to offer accurate, professional bike fitting services to riders wishing to buy bikes without being able to try the actual bike for size first and riders wishing to optimise their riding position to increase performance, avoid injury or improve comfort. He started Bike Science with these aims in mind.

Cotic was founded in 2002 and is a small, dynamic, rider owned bike company based in the Peak District area of England. It's our aim to provide the frame that is the best tool for the job, and back that up with superb customer service and a great warranty.
Our frames are designed and developed entirely by us here in the UK, and then manufacturered elsewhere. We basically do everything but the welding and painting.

If you’re considering titanium as a material for your custom-made bicycle frame you are probably already aware of it’s near mystical qualities: ultra-light, responsive, low maintenance, resistance to corrosion, superlative ride quality. It almost sounds too good to be true, right? Not so. The way the big bike manufactures pump out the “stock” frame leaves little left to the craft of custom frame building. Crisp Titanium does ONLY bicycle frames made-to-order for the 5-6% of cyclists who realize the value of a custom handcrafted frame.

Flat Frame Systems design and build cycle frames from 'Engineered Wood', which can be covered with high quality Veneer; for example: American Black Walnut or Ash, Cherry, Oak etc , all the way through to Zebrano. It is known that a Wood Frame bike is very comfortable to ride, and being slightly flexible to allow for a smoother journey. In bike we trust!
We apply Design principles to our products, but also to our company. Design is not just looks. Design means shape, first project, outline, technology, technique, materials, innovation, creativeness, function, quality, uniqueness, know-how, emotion. We want every product to have an Idea, since, if it is a copy, it cannot be Cinelli. However, the road to the mission is long and not easy at all.

Bikes say a lot about yourself. Why then should a frame not be every bit as unique as the human being riding it? That's why I love and build custom frames. I don't do production runs. I build bespoke bikes, one by one, starting with design and the geometry to fit you like a glove, continuing with a hacksaw, a file, a TIG welder, a pipe bender and finishing everything off with an extensive manual finish and a bolt on headbadge. If I had a say everbody would ride a custom bike.
